“I need to lose weight first.”

I hear this a lot- “First I'm going to lose weight, then I'm going to buy myself a shiny new wardrobe.”

Here's the surprising truth: getting dressed can actually HELP you reach your health goals.

“Participants who were asked to wear formal clothes tended to choose healthy foods rather than unhealthy foods, and those who wore informal clothes chose the opposite.”

This research study found is that when people wear formal clothes, they choose healthier foods.  Why?  Because while wearing these clothes, they associate certain traits with themselves: civilized, punctual, self-controlled, organized.  Then they subconsciously ACT in a way that MATCHES those traits, i.e. eating healthy food.  When people dress informally, they associate themselves with other traits: playful, sloppy, easygoing, and laid back.  Wearing informal clothes actually TRIGGERED unhealthy food choices.  Is your mind blown???  Mine is.

What “formal” means is personal to YOU.  What makes you feel capable and responsible?  What makes you stand a little taller?  THOSE CLOTHES are going to help you make healthier decisions.

When I started my style journey I was pretty body-conscious.  I would bounce between extremes of healthy and unhealthy.  I felt guilt every time I indulged, and I didn't balance exercise with the food needed to nourish.  But changing my STYLE helped me change my LIFESTYLE.  I found outfit formulas that gave me confidence WITHOUT reaching a weight goal.  The pressure was off, and then I saw better results in my health.  It was backwards, unexpected, and such a pleasant surprise.

I want style to be the tool you use to break free from a weight-driven mindset.  Because you are much much more than your weight.  That powerful, unique, amazing YOU is dying to be let FREE.

Your outfit is your ally.

With love,
